Company.
The name says it all
Since 1960 we have been designing and manufacturing shoes bearing the name WALDLÄUFER here. The German word translates literally as "forest walker" and speaks for itself. Throughout Europe, around 2,500 employees, including 95 at our headquarters, ensure that feet around the world can enjoy our comfortable, high-quality shoes. Around 11,000 pairs of WALDLÄUFER shoes per day, or approx. 2.5 million pairs per year, are produced using traditional craftsmanship and modern, environmentally friendly technology.
WALDLÄUFER footwear accompanies people around the globe. For us, this trust is an incentive to continue along our path and constantly optimise the quality of WALDLÄUFER shoes.
Philosophy.
What makes a shoe a WALDLÄUFER?
WALDLÄUFER shoes don’t just support your feet. They are an important component of your overall locomotor system. Connections to other body parts and organs are created via the reflex zones of the feet. This means that a foot-friendly WALDLÄUFER shoe has a positive effect on general wellbeing.
WALDLÄUFER shoes optimise the interaction of muscles, ligaments and joints by means of the typical WALDLÄUFER comfort functions: the special removable foot bed suitable for orthopaedic insoles, a perfect, supporting fit and lots of freedom of movement for the toes. Other WALDLÄUFER comfort features include narrow heels and individual widths.
Production.
From the design to the finished WALDLÄUFER shoe
A three-dimensional model using so-called "lasts" is the origin of every WALDLÄUFER shoe. The detailed design work takes place on a computer. Patterns are produced for all sizes and widths on this basis.
Subsequent manufacturing requires extensive knowledge and is based on experience passed on and refined from generation to generation and from master craftsman to apprentice. A steady hand and lots of fine feel are required to make a good shoe. This is because accuracy and care are particularly important in shoe production.
Only the best, specially selected leather is used for manufacturing, and it is left as natural as possible. This guarantees the particular softness and high breathability of WALDLÄUFER shoes.
